What is LO Journal?

LO Journal is a spiritual journaling app designed to help you grow in your faith through daily reflection. LO stands for "Listen and Obey" - the app provides a structured space to record how you listen to God and obey His calling in your daily life.

Who is LO Journal for?

LO Journal is for anyone seeking to deepen their walk with God through intentional prayer, inquiry, and obedience. Whether you're new to faith or have been walking with God for years, LO Journal provides a private, sacred space for your thoughts and encounters with God.

How much does LO Journal cost?

LO Journal is completely free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or hidden fees.

Can I support this somehow?

What devices is LO Journal available on?

Currently, LO Journal is available for iPhone and iPad running iOS 13.0 or later. We may expand to Android in the future.

Getting Started

How do I create an account?

  1. Download LO Journal from the App Store

  2. Open the app

  3. Tap “New”, then create your account

  4. Enter your email address and create a password

  5. Verify your email address (check your inbox)

  6. Start journaling!

Do I need an account to use LO Journal?

Yes, an account is required to use LO Journal. This allows us to securely store your journal entries and sync them across your devices, so you never lose your reflections.

I didn't receive my verification email. What should I do?

  1. Check your spam or junk folder

  2. Make sure you entered your email address correctly

  3. Wait a few minutes - emails can sometimes be delayed

  4. Try requesting a new verification email

  5. If still having issues, contact us (see top of page).

Can I use LO Journal without an internet connection?

You need an internet connection to sign in and sync your entries. However, once you're logged in, you can create and view entries offline. They will automatically sync when you reconnect to the internet.

Using the App

How do I create a journal entry?

  1. Open the app

  2. Tap the "+" button or "New Entry"

  3. Reflect on your day and fill in the sections:

    • Listen: How did you hear from God today?

    • Obey: How did you respond to God's calling?

  4. Tap "Save" when finished

Can I edit or delete a journal entry?

Yes! You can edit or delete any entry:

  • To edit: Tap on the entry, make your changes, and save

  • To delete: Swipe left on the entry and tap "Delete" (or tap the entry and select delete option)

Can I add photos or images to my entries?

Not at this time. LO Journal currently supports text-only entries to maintain focus on written reflection. We may consider adding media support in future updates based on user feedback.

How do I search my past entries?

Use the search function at the top of your journal list.

Can I export my journal entries?

Yes! There are two ways. First, export each entry individually. Second, export bulk data.

  1. Navigate to the entry

  2. Select “Share”

2. Export bulk data

  1. Going to Settings/Account from the Home Page

  2. Selecting "Export Data"

  3. Choosing your preferred format

  4. Your entries will be sent to your email or saved to your device

Privacy & Security

Is my journal private?

Absolutely. Your journal entries are completely private and secure. Only you can see your entries. We do not share, sell, or read your personal reflections. Your thoughts remain between you and God.

How is my data protected?

We take your privacy seriously:

  • All data is encrypted in transit using SSL/TLS

  • Your journal entries are stored securely using encryption

  • We use industry-standard security practices

  • Your password is encrypted and never stored in plain text

  • We never access or read your personal journal entries

Can other users see my journal entries?

No. LO Journal is a completely private journaling experience. There are no social features, sharing options, or ways for other users to view your entries. Your journal is for you alone unless you willingly select to share your entries through the “Share” functionality.

What happens to my data if I delete the app?

Deleting the app from your phone does NOT delete your account or data. Your journal entries remain safely stored on our servers. You can reinstall the app anytime and log back in to access all your entries.

To permanently delete your account and all data, you must request account deletion (see below).

Account Management

How do I change my email address?

  1. Go to Settings or Profile

  2. Tap "Email Address"

  3. Enter your new email address

  4. Verify the new email address

How do I change my password?

  1. Go to Settings or Profile

  2. Tap "Change Password"

  3. Enter your current password

  4. Enter your new password

  5. Confirm your new password

  6. Save changes

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

  1. On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?"

  2. Enter your email address

  3. Check your email for a password reset link

  4. Click the link and create a new password

  5. Log in with your new password

How do I delete my account?

We understand if you need to delete your account. To permanently delete your account and all associated data:

To request account deletion:

  1. Send an email to hello@listenobey.com

  2. Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"

  3. Include the email address associated with your account

  4. We will confirm your identity and process your request within 48 hours

  5. Once confirmed, all your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days

Important: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All your journal entries will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Alternative: If you just want a break, you can simply stop using the app. Your data will remain securely stored, and you can return anytime.

Technical Issues

The app won't open or keeps crashing. What should I do?

Try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Force close the app and reopen it

  2. Restart your iPhone/iPad

  3. Check that you're running the latest version of iOS

  4. Update LO Journal to the latest version from the App Store

  5. Uninstall and reinstall the app (your data is stored in the cloud)

  6. If still having issues, contact us with details (see top of page).

I'm having trouble logging in. What should I do?

Common solutions:

  • Make sure you're entering the correct email and password

  • Check that Caps Lock is not on

  • Try resetting your password

  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection

  • Update the app to the latest version

My entries aren't syncing. What's wrong?

Check these things:

  • Make sure you have an internet connection

  • Verify you're logged into the correct account

  • Try closing and reopening the app

  • Check that you have the latest version of the app

  • Try logging out and logging back in

If syncing issues persist, contact us (see top of page).

Why is the app using so much storage?

Journal entries are stored locally on your device for offline access. If storage is a concern:

  • Delete old entries you no longer need

  • Export and backup your entries, then delete older ones

  • Clear the app cache in Settings (if available)

The app is slow or laggy. How can I fix this?

Try these steps:

  • Close other apps running in the background

  • Restart your device

  • Update to the latest version of the app

  • Free up storage space on your device

  • Check your internet connection speed

Features & Feedback

Can I suggest a new feature?

Absolutely! We love hearing from our users. Send your feature suggestions to us (see top of page). We read every suggestion and consider them for future updates.

Will there be an Android version?

We're currently focused on making the best possible iOS experience. An Android version may come in the future depending on user demand. If you're interested, let us know (see top of page).

Will you add reminders/notifications?

Will you add reminders/notifications?

Yes! We now offer optional push notifications to help you maintain a consistent journaling practice. You can:

  • Enable/disable notifications in the app settings

  • Control notification frequency and timing

  • Turn them off completely in iOS Settings → Notifications → LO Journal

Notifications are completely optional and you have full control over when and how often you receive them.

Can I customize the app's appearance (dark mode, fonts, etc.)?

We may add customization options in future updates based on user feedback. If there are specific customization features you'd like, please let us know!

How often is the app updated?

We regularly update LO Journal to fix bugs, improve performance, and add new features. Updates are released as needed, typically every few weeks to months.

Notifications & Reminders

How do I enable push notifications?

To receive reminders and updates:

  1. When you first open the app, you'll be asked if you want to enable notifications - tap "Allow"

  2. If you skipped this, you can enable them later:

    1. Go to iOS Settings → Notifications → LO Journal → Toggle "Allow Notifications" ON

  3. In the app settings, you can customize:

    1. Notification frequency (daily, weekly, etc.)

    2. Preferred time for reminders

    3. Types of notifications you want to receive

How do I turn off notifications?

You can disable notifications in two ways:

Option 1: In the App

  1. Go to Settings or Profile

  2. Find "Notifications" or "Reminders"

  3. Toggle them OFF

Option 2: In iOS Settings

  1. Open iOS Settings

  1. Scroll to "LO Journal"

  2. Tap "Notifications"

  3. Toggle "Allow Notifications" OFF

What types of notifications will I receive?

We send notifications for:

  • Daily reminders - Gentle prompts to journal (if you enable them)

  • Encouragement - Occasional inspirational messages

  • Important updates - Critical app announcements or security alerts

You can customize which types of notifications you receive in the app settings.

I'm not receiving notifications. What should I do?

If you're not getting notifications:

1. Check iOS Settings:

  • Settings → Notifications → LO Journal

  • Make sure "Allow Notifications" is ON

  • Check that your preferred notification style is enabled (Lock Screen, Notification Center, Banners)

2. Check App Settings:

  • Open LO Journal

  • Go to Settings/Profile

  • Make sure notifications are enabled

3. Check Do Not Disturb:

  • Make sure Do Not Disturb or Focus modes aren't blocking notifications

  • Settings → Focus

4. Restart the App:

  • Close LO Journal completely

  • Reopen it

Will notifications drain my battery?

No. Push notifications use very minimal battery power. LO Journal is designed to be efficient and won't significantly impact your device's battery life.

Can I customize when I receive reminders?

Yes! In the app settings, you can:

  • Set your preferred reminder time (e.g., 8:00 PM daily)

  • Choose which days you want reminders

  • Adjust notification frequency

  • Pause notifications temporarily

Billing & Subscriptions

Is LO Journal really free?

Yes! LO Journal is completely free with no hidden costs, in-app purchases, or subscriptions. We believe spiritual growth tools should be accessible to everyone.

Will you add paid features in the future?

Currently, we have no plans to add paid features or subscriptions. LO Journal will remain free. If this changes, we will notify all users well in advance and ensure that core journaling features remain free.

I was charged for something. Why?

LO Journal does not charge for anything. If you see a charge, it may be from:

  • Another app purchase

  • An Apple subscription or service

  • A mistaken charge

Check your purchase history in the App Store. If you believe there's an error related to LO Journal, contact us (see top of page) immediately.
